Hauntings at Ocean Key Resort and Spa, Key West; the many ghosts of Elysian Park, Los Angeles, including a headless hound and a Lady in White; the black eyed boy, presumably a BEK, who terrified a large airman on a military base; the numerous hauntings and psychic phenomena of Manitowoc Place (formerly the Evergreen Inn Hotel) in Manitowoc; the long snouted, hominid, Tuttle Bottoms Monster; the phantom Woman in Black who chases people in the area of East Third Street, Bloomington; paranormal phenomena in the Henry hotel (formerly the Ritz Carlton) in Dearborn; the ghosts of Opryland, including a woman in black mourning weeds and the shade of Hank Williams; the ghosts of Sleepy Hollow (a real village popularly known by that name before it officially became so in 1996), where Washington Irving is buried and which really is haunted, especially around Raven Rock, by a wailing lady in white, the witch Mother Hulda and by a spectral horseman (not headless and usually heard but not seen); the ghosts of the El Tovar Hotel at the Grand Canyon, including a dark figure seen outside and the friendly spirit of Fred Harvey, a former owner; the phantom soldiers of Devil's Den, Gettysburg; the story of Indian fighter Bill Quick, who had ninety-nine human skulls displayed as trophies in his cabin near Kenton and, on his death bed, made his son Tom swear to add the hundredth, little knowing that the hundredth trophy in the cabin would be placed there by a Native American warrior and would be Tom's own skull (there certainly was a Tom Quick, notorious for killing Native Americans indiscriminately, and the legend probably grew from a desire to create justice in legend if not in reality); the spirits of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, such as the shade of Sarah Morgan (who was killed by a student) in the biology building, the ghost of a bearded and stetsoned professor in Holden Hall, the phantom of a student in the underground tunnels (still trying to sneak into the girls' dormitories) and "George", the harmless spectre of the old President's House; the nine or more spectres that haunt Original Springs Mineral Spa and Hotel in Okawville, including a former owner and a Lady in White; and the Black Eyed Kid of Triangle Town Center in Raleigh, are among the strange tales of the USA.

The fragrant spirit of the Cornerstone Bed and Breakfast, Philadelphia; the phantom maid who makes a nuisance of herself in the historic St Francis Inn, St Augstine; the lady in white who haunts the Yellow Turtle Inn in New Windsor; the chatty little ghost Abigail, who haunts the Ruebel Hotel in Grafton; the phantom of a weeping Native American woman who, on moonlit nights, repeats her death jump from a cliff in Creve Coeur Lake Memorial Park (Creve Coeur Park), in St Louis County, where she tried to join her late husband in the spirit world; Spring Heel Jack (Spring Heeled Jack) who terrorised London, England, many years before emigrating to Cape Cod; the headless horseman of the Lebanon Valley near Fort Indiantown Gap; the giant serpent of Lake Michigan; the ghostly civil war soldiers of Patterson Road, Houston; the spirits of appropriately named Cape Fear, including Confederate General William Whiting in Fort Fisher, south of Wilmington; strange occurrences in the Fenton Hotel, Fenton; supernatural entities at Victoria's Black Swan Inn in San Antonio; the face that appears if you gaze into a spring of the Great Balsam Mountains, which may not be your own but the hideous visage of a Cherokee woman, cursed by a manitou because of her flirtatiousness; the little phantom girl who knocks on the door of Room 42 and the spectral madame of Room 33 who are among the ghosts of the San Remo Hotel, San Francisco; and the Wiccademous Grave of the atmospheric shrimping village Fernandina Beach, on Amelia Island, where the spirit of a witch causes the earth to tremble, are more supernatural myths or scary stories of the United States of America.
