We wish you an enjoyable stay at your chosen Boca Grande Florida hotel. The famous and/or historic hotels of the world are major destinations in their own right. The beautiful and historic San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, the Hotel Lisboa and its famous casino in Macau, the Hotel Baur au Lac in Zurich, the Hotel del Coronado in San Diego, the Four Seasons Hotel Macao Cotai Strip in Macau, the Goldeneye Hotel (once the home of James Bond author Ian Fleming) in Jamaica's Oracabessa Bay and Raffles Hotel in Singapore where the Singapore Sling was invented in the hotel's Long Bar. are among the classic or luxury hotels of the world.

Myths, Scary Stories, Ghosts, Folklore, Monsters and Legends in Florida

The pink, horned, serpentine monster of the St John's River; the Fountain of Youth, searched for by the conquistador Ponce de Leon; the Saint Augustine Monster, a real carcass that has never been positively identified; the White Lady, Julia, who haunts Rolling Acres Road in appropriately named Lady Lake, along with a hooded phantom; the phantom of the Olde Marco Inn on Marco Island; the numerous ghosts of the Cassadaga Hotel, Cassadaga, which embraces its phantom guests and usually has a professional psychic on hand (spectres include girls Katlin and Sarah, Gentleman Jack with his trademark cigar and a rather naughty ghost called Arthur); and spirits of the Agustin Inn in the St Augustine Historic District, including a man in white, who walks through walls and who may also be the ghostly Chiles who "goes bump in the night", are among the true ghost stories, myths and legends of Florida.

Unexplained phenomena at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Miami (ghostly events are associated with the fact that the hotel was used as a soldiers' hospital during WW2); mysterious orbs and noises at the Historic Hollywood Beach Resort; the phantom lighthouse keeper at the St Augustine Lighthouse and Museum; hauntings at Ocean Key Resort and Spa, Key West; the spectre in a top hat that haunts the Vinoy Renaissance Hotel in St Petersburg; spectral lights and other mysterious phenomena at the Indian River Inn & Conference Center in New Smyrna; and the Fairchid Oak of Ormond Beach, haunted my a male spectre, possibly a suicide, are other legendary tales of ghosts and haunted places in Florida.

Umatilla Cemetery with its screaming woman and phantom children; sewer rats so huge that people have petted them like dogs; the smelly and sasquatch-like Skunk Ape; the pink fog of Tomoka State Park that leaves behind only the dismembered skeletons of those it envelops; unusual hauntings of a Victorian guesthouse, Artist House, in Key West (the turret is said to be haunted, both by Anne, the wife of artist and author Robert Eugene "Gene" Otto and by the malevolent spirit of a sailor doll, also called Robert - the "possessed" doll itself is sometimes displayed in the Fort East Martello Museum or at the Old Post Office and Customhouse and is claimed to be the inpiration for the Chucky movies); the ghosts of Miss Sunshine Gibson and Captain Wood in the historic, Cracker styled, Gibson Inn in Apalachicola; and the toilet-lurking Two Striped Telamonia spider, are more weird folklore associated with Florida.

The phantom maid who makes a nuisance of herself in the historic St Francis Inn, St Augstine; ghostly apparitions at the Hyatt Regency Orlando, formerly the Peabody Hotel; the ghost "Vivian" who haunts the Hunter Arms Inn in St Cloud; the gash-throated phantom of Luc Simone Aury that haunts the area outsde of the Amelia Island Museum of History, formerly the Old Jail where he was hanged, in Fernandina Beach (his attempt at suicide failed and his throat was stitched by a surgeon but the long drop of the gallows caused his wound to open and shower the horrified spectators with blood - Aury couldn't have planned it better if he had tried!); the Wiccademous Grave of the atmospheric shrimping village Fernandina Beach, on Amelia Island, where the spirit of a witch causes the earth to tremble; strange phenomena at the historic Mary Phifer McKenzie House, part of the Sweetwater Branch Inn in Gainesville; the ghost of the Jameson Inn, quite modern but already haunted, on Cracker Barrel Drive in Crestview; the Elusive Muck Monster of Lake Worth Lagoon; the ghost of a former owner that haunts the Inn at New World Landing, Pensacola; and the thoroughfare popularly called Bloody Bucket Road and the similarly prefixed bridge and woods in Wauchula where, at night, blood appears in the water below the bridge and the sound of crying babies is heard from the woods (a murderous midwife is said to have been haunted by a bucket that supernaturally filled with the blood of her victims, which she tried to pour out at the bridge), are yet more strange folktales of Florida.

Reptiles, Mammals, Birds and other Wildlife / Fauna of Florida

Pelicans, leatherback turtles, endangered North Atlantic right whales, hawksbill turtles, loggerhead turtles, feral Rhesus monkeys on the Silver River, adding to Florida's atmosphere of subtropical paradise, white-tailed deer, opossums, rare American crocodiles, river otters, rare Florida cougars (also called Florida panthers), American flamingos, bobcats, bald eagles, alligators, manatees, dolphins, green turtles, Florida softshell turtles, muskrats, raccoons, feral nine-banded armadillos, marsh rabbits, gopher tortoises, roseate spoonbills, feral Burmese pythons, feral parakeets and black bears are among the wild animals of Florida.
