The smelly and sasquatch-like Skunk Ape; the ghosts of Miss Sunshine Gibson and Captain Wood in the historic, Cracker styled, Gibson Inn in Apalachicola; the numerous ghosts of the Cassadaga Hotel, Cassadaga, which embraces its phantom guests and usually has a professional psychic on hand (spectres include girls Katlin and Sarah, Gentleman Jack with his trademark cigar and a rather naughty ghost called Arthur); the gash-throated phantom of Luc Simone Aury that haunts the area outsde of the Amelia Island Museum of History, formerly the Old Jail where he was hanged, in Fernandina Beach (his attempt at suicide failed and his throat was stitched by a surgeon but the long drop of the gallows caused his wound to open and shower the horrified spectators with blood - Aury couldn't have planned it better if he had tried!); hauntings at Ocean Key Resort and Spa, Key West; mysterious orbs and noises at the Historic Hollywood Beach Resort; unusual hauntings of a Victorian guesthouse, Artist House, in Key West (the turret is said to be haunted, both by Anne, the wife of artist and author Robert Eugene "Gene" Otto and by the malevolent spirit of a sailor doll, also called Robert - the "possessed" doll itself is sometimes displayed in the Fort East Martello Museum or at the Old Post Office and Customhouse and is claimed to be the inpiration for the Chucky movies); the thoroughfare popularly called Bloody Bucket Road and the similarly prefixed bridge and woods in Wauchula where, at night, blood appears in the water below the bridge and the sound of crying babies is heard from the woods (a murderous midwife is said to have been haunted by a bucket that supernaturally filled with the blood of her victims, which she tried to pour out at the bridge); strange phenomena at the historic Mary Phifer McKenzie House, part of the Sweetwater Branch Inn in Gainesville; and the pink, horned, serpentine monster of the St John's River, are yet more strange folktales of Florida.
