Camelopard wishes you a comfortable stay in your Clermont Florida hotel. The famous and/or historic hotels of the world are major destinations in their own right. The Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles, the Mandarin Oriental Macau, Christian's Hotel in Luoyang China, the Venetian Macao Resort Hotel in Macau, the PuLi Hotel and Spa in Shanghai, the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong (featuring in the Clark Gable movie Soldier of Fortune) and the Grand Hyatt Macau. are among the classic or luxury hotels of the world.

Folklore, Monsters, Legends, Myths, Ghosts and Scary Stories in Florida

Spirits of the Agustin Inn in the St Augustine Historic District, including a man in white, who walks through walls and who may also be the ghostly Chiles who "goes bump in the night"; ghostly apparitions at the Hyatt Regency Orlando, formerly the Peabody Hotel; the smelly and sasquatch-like Skunk Ape; the phantom maid who makes a nuisance of herself in the historic St Francis Inn, St Augstine; the phantom of the Olde Marco Inn on Marco Island; the ghost of the Jameson Inn, quite modern but already haunted, on Cracker Barrel Drive in Crestview; and the gash-throated phantom of Luc Simone Aury that haunts the area outsde of the Amelia Island Museum of History, formerly the Old Jail where he was hanged, in Fernandina Beach (his attempt at suicide failed and his throat was stitched by a surgeon but the long drop of the gallows caused his wound to open and shower the horrified spectators with blood - Aury couldn't have planned it better if he had tried!), are among the true ghost stories, myths and legends of Florida.

Spectral lights and other mysterious phenomena at the Indian River Inn & Conference Center in New Smyrna; the pink, horned, serpentine monster of the St John's River; strange phenomena at the historic Mary Phifer McKenzie House, part of the Sweetwater Branch Inn in Gainesville; the ghost of a former owner that haunts the Inn at New World Landing, Pensacola; the Fairchid Oak of Ormond Beach, haunted my a male spectre, possibly a suicide; hauntings at Ocean Key Resort and Spa, Key West; and unexplained phenomena at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Miami (ghostly events are associated with the fact that the hotel was used as a soldiers' hospital during WW2), are other legendary tales of ghosts and haunted places in Florida.

The numerous ghosts of the Cassadaga Hotel, Cassadaga, which embraces its phantom guests and usually has a professional psychic on hand (spectres include girls Katlin and Sarah, Gentleman Jack with his trademark cigar and a rather naughty ghost called Arthur); the toilet-lurking Two Striped Telamonia spider; sewer rats so huge that people have petted them like dogs; the spectre in a top hat that haunts the Vinoy Renaissance Hotel in St Petersburg; the White Lady, Julia, who haunts Rolling Acres Road in appropriately named Lady Lake, along with a hooded phantom; the thoroughfare popularly called Bloody Bucket Road and the similarly prefixed bridge and woods in Wauchula where, at night, blood appears in the water below the bridge and the sound of crying babies is heard from the woods (a murderous midwife is said to have been haunted by a bucket that supernaturally filled with the blood of her victims, which she tried to pour out at the bridge); and mysterious orbs and noises at the Historic Hollywood Beach Resort, are more weird folklore associated with Florida.

The phantom lighthouse keeper at the St Augustine Lighthouse and Museum; Umatilla Cemetery with its screaming woman and phantom children; the Wiccademous Grave of the atmospheric shrimping village Fernandina Beach, on Amelia Island, where the spirit of a witch causes the earth to tremble; unusual hauntings of a Victorian guesthouse, Artist House, in Key West (the turret is said to be haunted, both by Anne, the wife of artist and author Robert Eugene "Gene" Otto and by the malevolent spirit of a sailor doll, also called Robert - the "possessed" doll itself is sometimes displayed in the Fort East Martello Museum or at the Old Post Office and Customhouse and is claimed to be the inpiration for the Chucky movies); the Fountain of Youth, searched for by the conquistador Ponce de Leon; the pink fog of Tomoka State Park that leaves behind only the dismembered skeletons of those it envelops; the ghosts of Miss Sunshine Gibson and Captain Wood in the historic, Cracker styled, Gibson Inn in Apalachicola; the Saint Augustine Monster, a real carcass that has never been positively identified; the Elusive Muck Monster of Lake Worth Lagoon; and the ghost "Vivian" who haunts the Hunter Arms Inn in St Cloud, are yet more strange folktales of Florida.

Reptiles, Mammals, Birds and other Wildlife / Fauna of Florida

Alligators, pelicans, raccoons, rare Florida cougars (also called Florida panthers), loggerhead turtles, green turtles, dolphins, leatherback turtles, white-tailed deer, roseate spoonbills, muskrats, hawksbill turtles, manatees, feral parakeets, American flamingos, bald eagles, opossums, gopher tortoises, feral Burmese pythons, black bears, marsh rabbits, endangered North Atlantic right whales, rare American crocodiles, feral nine-banded armadillos, river otters, Florida softshell turtles, feral Rhesus monkeys on the Silver River, adding to Florida's atmosphere of subtropical paradise and bobcats are among the wild animals of Florida.

America is one of the largest, most most varied and most interesting countries in the world. Being familiar with the USA is as important in the modern Grand Tour as familiarity with Europe. Sitka, Savannah, Detroit, Miami, Phoenix, Lake Tahoe, Sacramento, Chicago, Seattle, Anchorage, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas, Las Vegas, Santa Fe, Honolulu, New Orleans, Atlanta, Boston, Albuquerque, San Diego, Fort Lauderdale, New York, Corpus Christi, Washington DC, Salt Lake City, Kansas City, St Louis, Indianapolis, Fairbanks, San Francisco, Juneau, Minneapolis, Skagway and Atlantic City are among the most famous cities in the USA. Other American mainland sites that should not be missed if a visitor to America, or an American for that matter, is to be regarded as well travelled, include Mount Rainier National Park, the Arctic wilderness of Alaska, the Everglades, rodeos, Yellowstone National Park, Mount McKinley and fabulous wildlife in Denali National Park, the Florida Keys, Niagara Falls, the Appalachians, the Ozarks, the beach at Waikiki in Hawaii, the Okefenokee Swamp, Native American nations such as the Navajo and the Hopi, Bryce Canyon, Mount Rushmore, the Grand Canyon, the Disney resorts, Hawaiian volcanoes such as Mauna Loa, the Adirondacks, Glacier Bay National Park, the plantations and bayous of the Mississippi Delta, the wild west town of Tombstone, the California coastline, Yosemite National Park, Route 66 and Marvellous scenery and sea life in Kenai Fjords National Park.

The United States of America are so enormous that even most Americans cannot "know" all of their own country. Even visiting every state would be a major undertaking. It is possible, however, to visit the iconic places known all over the world, especially through Hollywood movies. Whether you travel America for business or pleasure, enjoy your journey.
