We wish you an enjoyable stay at your chosen North Canton Ohio hotel. The famous and/or historic hotels of the world are major destinations in their own right. The Belmond Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro, the Polana Hotel in Maputo, the New Stanley Hotel in Nairobi, the Mandarin Oriental Pudong in Shanghai, the Shangri-La Hotel in Lhasa, the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong and the PuLi Hotel and Spa in Shanghai. are internationally renowned hotels.

Ghosts, Monsters, Folklore, Myths, Legends and Scary Stories in Ohio

Stories of Johnny Appleseed, a real nurseryman and missionary whose real name was John Chapman (he planted many apple nurseries in the Mohican area of Ohio); the Cry Baby Bridge in Norton, Akron, where at midnight the ghostly sight and sound of a mother throwing her baby into the river may be witnessed; the "melon heads" of Kirtland, similar to those of Connecticut and Michigan (I also suspect that the New York legend of swollen-headed Catskill gnomes owes its origin to melonheads); the story of Indian fighter Bill Quick, who had ninety-nine human skulls displayed as trophies in his cabin near Kenton and, on his death bed, made his son Tom swear to add the hundredth, little knowing that the hundredth trophy in the cabin would be placed there by a Native American warrior and would be Tom's own skull (there certainly was a Tom Quick, notorious for killing Native Americans indiscriminately, and the legend probably grew from a desire to create justice in legend if not in reality); and the ghost of Mrs Squire in Squire's Castle near Cleveland, are among the true ghost stories, myths and legends of Ohio.

The frog-like dwarves of Loveland; the girl in denims and tennis shoes, who sits on her own gravestone, in Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum, Dayton; the entrance to Hell created by Satanists at Satan's Hollow in Blue Ash, Cincinnati; the spectre of William H Morgan in Glamorgan Castle, Alliance; the phantom lioness, usually heard rather than seen, who follows visitors in Cincinnati Zoo; and the hauntings of Franklin Castle (a private residence, so do not linger), Cleveland, including a crying child and unexplained music (in spite of its name and reputation as Ohio's most haunted house, it looks to me like a typical Victorian dwelling), are other legendary tales of ghosts and haunted places in Ohio.

Birds, Reptiles, Mammals and other Wildlife / Fauna of Ohio

Increasing numbers of river otters, black-throated green warblers, fox squirrels, groundhogs (woodchucks), prothonotary Warblers, nocturnal flying squirrels (rarely seen but actually the most common squirrels in Ohio), Northern cardinals, coyotes, copperheads, gray squirrels, American badgers, minks, red squirrels, loons, a small number of black bears, gray foxes, Eastern chipmunks, meadow jumping mice, bald eagles, muskrats, Virginia opossums, turkey vultures, raccoons, Canada geese, red foxes, snow geese, wild turkeys, white-tailed deer, beavers and woodland jumping mice are among the wild animals of Ohio.

America is one of the largest, most most varied and most interesting countries in the world. Be as familiar with famous places as you might like to be with famous people. Salt Lake City, Fairbanks, San Diego, Corpus Christi, Indianapolis, Juneau, Sacramento, New York, Chicago, Honolulu, Lake Tahoe, Philadelphia, Dallas, Fort Lauderdale, Sitka, Albuquerque, Boston, Houston, Seattle, Washington DC, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Phoenix, Santa Fe, Kansas City, Savannah, Skagway, Anchorage, San Francisco, St Louis, Minneapolis, New Orleans, Miami, Los Angeles, Detroit and Atlantic City. If you have seen those cities, you have at least seen the most famous ones in the USA. Visiting all fifty states is something that even most Americans cannot manage but it is possible to visit those cities, as well as other iconic destinations such as The Appalachians, Yellowstone National Park, the plantations and bayous of the Mississippi Delta, the Adirondacks, the Arctic wilderness of Alaska, Niagara Falls, the Okefenokee Swamp, Mount Rushmore, the Everglades, the wild west town of Tombstone, the Grand Canyon, the Ozarks, rodeos, the Florida Keys, the Disney resorts, Hawaiian volcanoes such as Mauna Loa, Bryce Canyon, Native American nations such as the Navajo and the Hopi, Marvellous scenery and sea life in Kenai Fjords National Park, Yosemite National Park, the California coastline, Glacier Bay National Park, the beach at Waikiki in Hawaii, Mount Rainier National Park, Mount McKinley and fabulous wildlife in Denali National Park and Route 66. Casually mentioning places that you have visited can be as impressive as mentioning the names of celebrities that you have met. Whether you travel America for business or pleasure, enjoy your journey.
